She flinched slightly as he sat behind her, wrapping muscular legs around her. If he noticed he gave no indication. Casually, seemingly bored, he lifted a strand of her long hair. Her muscles tensed, her body shaking ever so slightly at his proximity. She gasped, her body jerking as his breath washed across her skin.
“You’re Water tribe?”
She swallowed, nodding slowly, her skin tingling as his lips smiled against her neck.
“And what would a Water tribe peasant want with me?”
His breath was still hot against her skin, but his cold words brought her back to her senses. Swallowing her fear, she sat up straighter, her voice as cold as his. “Actually, I’m a princess. And I am here to negotiate …”
He laughed, pulling away from her. She shivered at the sudden loss of warmth.
“And what could your people possibly have to offer the greatest nation in the world?”
She turned, her eyes narrowing. “The Avatar.”
